Talking about Likht un Shotn, Composer Dan Golden writes: "We are having fun putting my piece together—I have tried to take into account the colorful musical personalities of the soloists and they and the orchestra are doing a great job with the material. The piece draws from the classical tradition of the "Concertante" or "Concerto Grosso" with a group of soloists and a large orchestra. The musical idiom is inspired by Klezmer music but is pretty eclectic in style.
Lots of toe-tapping festive music but also some more serious moments as the title implies."

Bringing Great Music and Good Times to the Heart of Park Ridge

Welcome to our amazing eighteenth season at the historic Pickwick Theatre in Uptown Park Ridge. We have great plans for the future and we will bring the best in classical music to you in new and innovative ways. We are excited to announce that this is a season of historic transition. We are not losing a conductor but gaining a conductor as Maestro Muenzer passes the Music Directorship to Music Director Designate Victor Muenzer in 2012. You can look forward to hearing from both these musical minds leading the orchestra for years to come. As you may know, roughly one-fourth of our expenses are covered by ticket sales; the remainder must be paid for by the contributions of individuals, corporations, government agencies, and foundations. Please consider including a tax-deductible donation to the Park Ridge Civic Orchestra when you return your ticket order. All donations are acknowledged in our program book for a period of one year.
